Exploration
It's not a dream—they're whales.
Ballena Gris
Every January, thousands of gray whales arrive from Alaska to give birth and breed in these protected waters. You’ll cruise in small boats designed for the best viewing experience, while learning about their migration from expert guides. At dawn, you’ll see mothers and calves in a dreamlike setting: tranquil lagoons, golden dunes, and a silence broken only by their breathing. Our glamping experience combines the comfort of a luxury camp with conservation activities and field talks. Here, your gray whale viewing experience will be much more than just a tour—it will be a journey of deep connection with these gentle giants.

The adventure begins in La Paz, BCS. We’ll arrange transportation to take us to the agreed-upon departure point, and we’ll head to Bahía Magdalena. From there, we’ll go to the camp, where we’ll be waiting for you with a smile and a delicious meal. On this first day, we’ll settle into the camp and then gather around a campfire where our biologist will tell us everything we need to know about the gray whale.
We’ll get up early and watch an unforgettable sunrise, enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast, and then head out on our first Ocean Safari. We’ll spend several hours at sea looking for gray whales. In the afternoon, we’ll have ceviche in the dune area. On our way back, we’ll enjoy the sunset, have dinner, and have time to relax and socialize around the campfire.
Early in the morning, we’ll go on our second Ocean Safari to see the whales so you won’t miss a thing. Afterward, we’ll visit an incredible community-run oyster farm where we’ll learn about oyster farming and enjoy fresh seafood. We’ll return to camp in the afternoon to watch the sunset. In the evening, we’ll have a bonfire under the starry sky.
On our last day, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast to say goodbye to Bahía Magdalena. Then we packed our bags and headed to La Paz to begin our journey home.
